Lhani Jamison was born and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland, right outside of Washington, DC. Growing up in the DMV, Lhani attended National Cathedral, an all-girl’s high school. There, she found and nurtured her passion for diversity and inclusion as Equity Board President her senior year. After graduating, she went on to Cornell University where she majored in Industrial and Labor Relations and minored in film.
While at Cornell, Lhani worked as a Community Advocate in the University’s Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives and later as a Diversity and Inclusion Student Assistant in her College’s Office of Student Services. Her favorite memories at Cornell include pledging Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., interning for a semester in Los Angeles at NBCUniversal in the Labor Relations Department and studying abroad for a semester in Sydney, Australia.
The day after graduating from Cornell, Lhani moved to Los Angeles and started Hollywood’s coveted Page Program at NBCUniversal where she spent one year rotating through four departments within the company. One of her rotations was on the NBC Programming Talent Development and Inclusion team, then led by Hollywood Diversity and Inclusion pioneer, Karen Horne. After the Page Program, Lhani worked for Karen as a Coordinator. Her next role was supporting the Head of Talent & Casting at ABC & Disney+.
After Disney, Lhani held two roles at WarnerBros. Discovery. First, she reunited with her former boss Karen, as an Executive Assistant on the Equity & Inclusion Pipeline Programs Team at Warner Bros. Discovery. Then, Lhani moved to London and began working on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Equity and Inclusion International team. There, she reported to the Global Chief Diversity Equity & Inclusion Officer, Asif Sadiq. On the team, Lhani managed Global Talent Initiatives and helped support the relationship with the US-based Equity & Inclusion team.
Also while in London, Lhani began the first year of a dual degree graduate program. During her one year there, she earned a Master of Science in Global Media and Communication at the London School of Economics. Then she moved back to Los Angeles where she graduated from University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism with a Master of Arts in Global Communication. In addition, she completed research at USC Annenberg’s Inclusion Initiative and worked as a Resident Assistant for the Veterans' Housing Community.
Currently, Lhani is working as a Senior Account Executive at Smith & Company, a leading creative strategy and crisis management firm. A true Virgo, when Lhani is not working, you can find her hiking, on a long walk by the beach, trying a new vegan recipe, or spending time with family and friends.
